<\/a>I qualified with a degree in law from the\nUniversity of M\u00fcnster and studies at the Swiss University of Lausanne. Following\nmy legal clerkship, which I completed at the Higher State Court in Hamm as well\nas at a French law firm, I received a fellowship at the University Lille II\nDroit et Sant\u00e9 in France where,\nfrom 1985-86 I completed my doctorate and wrote my thesis on French law and\nprivate international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admitted to the Bar in 1986, I worked for a large law firm in Frankfurt and Paris from 1986 to 1989. In\n1988\/89, I worked as a foreign associate for Coudert Brothers, an international\nlaw firm in New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1989 to 2016 I was the chief in-house legal\ncounsel for the German branch of the BNP Paribas S.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1998, I founded the \"Consilium<\/a> and I have remained as chairman and managing director since. This European Economic Interest Grouping is a network of lawyers, auditors and tax advisors from Germany and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For some time now, I have also been entrepreneurially\nactive as a partner\/shareholder as well as managing director in various\nventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My associate, Mrs Julia Schumann, is a\ncertified translator for both English\nand French (Magdeburg-Stendal\nUniversity of Applied Sciences). As part of her studies she has lived and\nworked in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My clients are almost exclusively made up of\nmedium-sized businesses with their seat in Germany and as well as abroad, in\nparticular France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I advise my clients in all matters regarding civil\nlaw, commercial law and inheritance law. Additionally, I manage litigation,\naccompany and support clients during trials and negotiations. Similarly, I can\nact as a neutral arbiter as well as performing trustee duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each client receives individually tailored\nadvice, delivered within a reasonable timeframe. Our strong points include our\nexperience, economic competence, thorough language knowledge and sensitivity in\nour dealings with foreign clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional services, such as notarization,\npatent\/copyright law, administrative law, foreign law, tax advice, auditing can\nbe performed upon request by specialized lawyers chosen from my personally\nbuilt Consilium Iuris network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can communicate with us in either French, German\nand English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
